Proxy Heroes

‘Proxy Heroes’, the duos 4th outing together, was critically and commercially a hit. Using the dusty pages of a ‘Boys Own Annual’ style family heirloom, a father reads to his son some of his favourite stories from a book we soon discover isn’t as it seems. The pages of the book come to life on stage. The young boy, ungrateful of his fathers gesture of passing on the book, takes to the book with a pair of scissors, some clag and pile of magazines. The heroes within find themselves coping with altered storylines. Will the heroes turn the table on the boy or will he change their plots forever?

Mixing traditional templates of heroes with the modern media version, the show deftly steps between farce and social comment. The show nominated for the ‘Barry Award’, marked the high point in the still unnamed duos collaboration.
